For God Nothing Is Impossible: The Promise of Jeremiah 32
"Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?" — Jeremiah 32:27
When Everything Seems Lost
Have you ever looked at your situation and felt like there was no way out? That the debt is too great, the illness too strong, the relationship too broken, the dream too far away? If so, the message of Jeremiah 32 was written for you.
Jeremiah was living through one of the darkest moments in his people's history. The Babylonian army was surrounding Jerusalem. The city was about to fall. Hunger, fear, and despair reigned among its inhabitants. There were no human signs of hope.
And it was precisely in that moment that God asked Jeremiah to do something completely illogical: buy a field.
An Act of Faith in the Midst of Chaos
Jeremiah 32:26-35 tells us how the prophet, confined in the court of the guard, obeys a divine instruction that defies all human logic. He buys property in a land being invaded. He signs documents, calls witnesses, stores the deed in a clay jar so it will last many days.
Why? Because God spoke to him with a question that is, in reality, a declaration of power:
"Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?" — Jeremiah 32:27
This question does not await a human answer. It is a sovereign proclamation. For the God who created the heavens and the earth, who parted the waters of the sea and raises the dead, absolutely no situation is too difficult.
What God Sees When You Only See Ruins
In verses 26-35, God openly acknowledges the severity of the situation. He does not minimize the sin or ignore the consequences. He knows the people have failed. He knows there is judgment. But He also knows something more: that He is the God of restoration.
God does not ask you to pretend everything is fine. He asks you to trust that He can do something with what you have broken, lost, or abandoned.
When Jeremiah bought that field, he did not do so because the situation made sense. He did it because he trusted the voice of the One who controls the future. The field was a prophetic symbol: "There will still be a morning. There will still be restoration. My promises do not expire."
Faith That Acts Before Seeing
The most powerful lesson of this passage is often the one we find hardest to learn: true faith acts before seeing the result.
Don't wait for the situation to improve before trusting God. Trust God and let Him improve the situation.
Jeremiah did not wait for the Babylonians to leave. He did not wait for the city to be safe. He acted in obedience in the middle of the storm. And that obedience was recorded forever in Scripture as a monument to the faith that overcomes doubt.
What 'field' is God asking you to buy today? What act of faith seems illogical given your current circumstances, but that He is calling you to take?
The Gospel Confirmation: The Voice of Jesus
What the prophet Jeremiah proclaimed centuries earlier, Jesus confirmed with definitive authority. His disciples, astonished at the difficulty of entering the kingdom of God, asked him: "Who then can be saved?" And Jesus answered with one of the most powerful declarations in the entire New Testament:
"With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." — Matthew 19:26
Notice the structure of that sentence: two realities separated by the word 'but.' For man: impossible. For God: all things are possible. Not some things. Not most things. All things.
Jesus was not speaking of magic or illusions. He was revealing the very nature of God: a Father who acts where human ability ends. Jeremiah experienced it in the ruins of Jerusalem. The disciples heard it from the lips of the Son of God. And you can embrace it in whatever situation you are living through today.
Two Testaments. One same message. For God, nothing is impossible.
Nothing Is Impossible for God
If you are reading this today, you may find yourself in your own 'siege of Jerusalem': surrounded by problems, with few visible exits, and with the feeling that God's promises have taken too long.
Hear this word:
God is still the Lord of all flesh. God still can.
He can heal what doctors declared incurable. He can restore what seemed irreparably destroyed. He can open doors in walls. He can make the desert bloom. He can bring life where there was only death.
And if doubt ever tries to make you believe your case is the exception, remember the words of Jesus himself: "With God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). No asterisk. No fine print. No exception for your name or your story.
Not because the situation is easy, but because He is greater than any situation.
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, today I bring before You everything that seems impossible in my life. I acknowledge that my strength is limited, but Yours has no limit. Just as You spoke to Jeremiah in the midst of darkness, speak to my heart today. Give me faith to act before seeing. Give me courage to obey You when not everything makes sense. I believe that for You, nothing is impossible. In the name of Jesus, amen.
💡 Remember: Faith is not the absence of doubt. It is the decision to trust God in spite of doubt.
